DXN Lion’s Mane medicinal mushroom

DXN Lion’s Mane medicinal mushroom: the neurological tissue healer

DXN Lion’s Mane medicinal mushroom tablets are made from a fungus called Hericium erinaceus. Why is this fungus called Hericium erinaceus? Because it has been named after many animals. One of the most common name is Lion’s Mane. It is also a product in DXN. It is also known as Bearded Tooth, Satyr’s beard, Bearded Hedgehog, Pom-Pom, Monkey Head, Mountain Priest and Deer’s Tail. These are the names of Lion’s Mane medical mushroom.

All these names this fungus received is because of its fiberlike structure. These 1 or 2 cm – to me a bit rasta-like – white locks are rich in water.

I basically call DXN Lion’s Mane medicinal mushroom the neurological tissue healer. You can find it growing in the wild usually on the top of birch and oak trees, so it is very rare to see one.

You can either watch the very easily-understandable, yet most comprehensive DXN Ayurveda presentation in this video here, or if you are more of a reading-type, go on with the text.

There are 3 varieties of Hericeum:

The one we are now talking about is Erinaceus. The other 2 are the Americanum and the Coralloides. It is an edible mushroom. Because of its medicinal properties it is also categorized as a medicinal mushroom. Because of its powerful action on the nervous system it is also categorized as a powerful superfood. It grows on living trees, so it is also categorized as a parasitic fungus. It can also grown on logs of dead trees, so it is a saprophyte, too.

Among the 3 varieties Hericium erinaceus is what is in DXN Lion’s Mane medicinal mushroom tablet form. Erinaceus is on the left, Americanum is in the middle, and to the right is the beautiful Coralloides.

“DXN Lion’s Mane medicinal mushroom mycelium is nature’s nutrient for our neurons.”

World-reknown mycologist Paul Stamets says that Lion’s Mane mushroom mycelium is nature’s nutrient for our neurons. DXN also offers mycelium of Lion’s Mane fungus in DXN Lion’s Mane medicinal mushroom tablets. This variety looks quite different from any other varieties. Instead of caps and stems it grows in globular masses and has long flowing spines. It is an edible mushroom, so it is available in supermarkets of some countries and it can be used to cook food.

Here you can see the varieties of cuisine where this mushroom can be added. It has got a very meaty texture, especially like lobster. It has got a slight sweet taste too as it is rich in polysaccharides.

Lion’s Mane dates back hundreds of years in China, Japan and Korea. It was cultivated for medicinal use prescribed for stomach problems and cancer of the digestive organs. Yet it tastes like meat, it is completely a vegetarian food.

In Japan it is called Yamabushi-take (’’those who sleep in the mountains”). This name refers to the Shugendo sect of ’’hermit monks” and their long flowing garments. So it has connection to spirituality and the calmness that it brings in the people who are seeking themselves. According to legends, Yamabushi-take mushroom has supernatural powers, just like the monks it recieved its name from.

Erinacines promote brain and nerve cell health. DXN Lion’s Mane medicinal mushroom has the ability to heal nerve tissues, especially the damaged medullary sheaths. As I said, the 2 active ingredients, the Hericenones and Erinacines stimulate Nerve Growth Factor.

What is NGF (Nerve Growth Factor)?

NGF is a protein that is necessary for the cells to send information to the brain to function properly. When the body lacks NGF, it can cause neurological problems like Alzheimer’s and dementia. So Nerve Growth Factor is required by the neurons in order to survive. NGF can’t pass through the blood-brain barrier. So, treating dementia by injecting NGF protein into the body does not work.

What does DXN Lion’s Mane medicinal mushroom do to solve lack of NGF problem?

Due to their low molecular weight, the nerve regenerating compounds in Lion’s Mane mushroom do pass the blood-brain barrier. This allows them to stimulate and repair nerve cells in the brain itself, increasing cognitive function.

Healing neurons and myelin (the sheath surrounding nerves) may be useful in treating:

  • Dementia
  • Alzheimer’s
  • Muscular Dystrophy
  • Senility
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • other neurological problems

So for anyone suffering from Alzheimer’s, DXN Lion’s Mane medicinal mushroom is the supplement of choice. Even conditions like Parkinson’s can be helped with the supplement of this medicinal mushroom.

The 2 different types of epilepsy, the grand-mal and petit-mal seizures also find good benefit with DXN Lion’s Mane medicinal mushroom. As you saw, the monks have been consuming it to increase their brain capacity and we too, can consume it to improve our brain function.

DXN Lion’s Mane medicinal mushroom is rich in some physiologically important components, especially beta-glucan polysaccharides. These polysaccharides are responsible for its therapeutical potentials in many fields.
